The establishment of QWEPZ was authorized by the State Council on 8th, May, 2006, and the area of QWEPZ is 2 square km. The construction of QWEPZ was started in Oct, 2006. QWEPZ was accepted by nine national ministries and commissions after their joint inspection of the zone. At the end of Sep, 2007, the zone was officially operated under the Customs’ close supervision. The favorable policy of ‘inside the territory and outside the Customs’ is adopted inside QWEPZ.
Qingdao West-coast Export Processing Zone£¨QWEPZ£©is located in Qingdao Economic and Technological Development Zone£¨QDZ£©, on the west bank of Shandong Peninsula Jiaozhou Bay, in the developed economic rim of Bohai Sea of eastern coastal region of China, facing Pacific Ocean. QWEPZ is very close to Qingdao port, which is 10th largest container port in the world, 2nd largest foreign-trade port in China, 3rd largest container port in China, the largest ore terminal of China, and the largest crude oil port of China. It is 40km from Qingdao International Airport, 10km from Huangdao Station, 1.5km from Jiaozhou Bay highway entrance, 5km from Tongsan highway entrance, 2km from Qinglan highway entrance and 2km from Cross Sea Bridge entrance. Around the zone, several functional zones gather like state-class Economic and Technological Development Zone, state-class Bonded Zone and Bonded Logistics Park, state-class New Technology Experimental Development Zone, state-class Home Electric Appliance Industrial Zone, and Fenghuangdao Tourism & Vacation Zone.
The land within QWEPZ is all for industrial use. Presently, there is totally 178 hectares’ land within the zone of which the three existing three enterprises has occupied 33 hectares. And there is 145 hectares’ land that can be transferred.
